What is the accommodation like?
Stream 09 takes place at the scenic, but basic (2 trident), Club Med Athenia . The rooms have all the basic amenities including an en-suite bathroom, but very little else in the way of charm, elegance, CNN or room service.
How do I get to the venue?
Stream 09 is held in Greece. Please see our travel page for details on all aspects of travel, including the BA discount available to Stream delegates. The Stream team would recommend you make your travel reservations in good time.
Do I know any of the people who are coming?
Most likely. Stream is an international meeting of minds and there will be representatives from the creative and technology industries world over. Once you have registered and logged in you will be able to view the current delegate list here. To get a feel for the caliber of attendees you can view the 07 and 08 delegate list by going to the ‘Who Comes’ menu.
What do I have to prepare in advance?
What you have to prepare depends on which activities you plan on contributing to. We encourage you to think about how you may want to get involved – by leading a discussion or workshop, cooking or performing. There are many ways to get involved. We suggest getting in contact with one of the event volunteer directors to get some ideas.
What do I have to bring?
Fresh thinking and bags of enthusiasm! Beyond that the Stream team would recommend you read the ‘what to pack’ section. If you are planning on running a session with props, please read the ‘Deliveries’ section.
What kind of clothing do I need?
Suits are out! Stream thinks smart but dresses casual. Please see the ‘what to pack’ section for notes on the expected temperature.
Do I need to bring cash?
Stream is free! All your meals and drinks are included. If you would like to indulge in a premium brand spirit, champagne, VSOP brand or XO spirit at the bar, you will need to make a cash payment. Everything else is provided for.
Am I sharing a room?
No. Every delegate is provided his/her own room. See accommodation for more details.
Do I have to stay on site?
Yes. Stream is private event hosted at a self-contained venue. All attendees are expected to stay on site the for the two evenings. Your room will be within walking distance of the main camp. Please see the venue map to get a feel for the venue layout.
Will there be internet access?
Yes. The Stream team have spent the last 12 months scouring the globe for a team of experts capable to setting up the internet anywhere. The team we found have mastered broadband in the Sahara, so we are confident there will be excellent wi-fi connection on site. Access will be free.
Will there be office facilities on site?
There will be minimal computing facilities on site. The Stream team would like to recommend you bring your own laptop and make use of the free wi-fi. In an emergency, please approach a member of the Stream Team, who will be able to assist you in the Stream Team Office.
What kind of adaptors do I need?
Voltage in Greece is 220V. You will need to bring a power adaptor for all non-EU appliances, which includes laptops, hairdryers & phone chargers. EU adaptors (a round plug with two pins) can be purchased from the airport en-route.
How warm will it be?
Stream delegates will be in for a treat (as long as they are not from California!). If recent patterns hold, weather will stay warm, as the trend for warmer Octobers continues (up to 24C). Please see our weather widget for up to date information.
What is the timetable on site?
Prior to the event, please see the schedule. Once on site, individual sessions will be assigned a time and location on the Big Boards which can be found in the main bar area.
How many sessions run simultaneously?
As many as 8 sessions can run simultaneously, depending on on-the-day scheduling, which can be found on the Big Boards. This can be more or less depending on the time slot, but the Stream team are happy to promise there will be plenty to do. To plan your day, please refer to the Big Boards.
How many people normally attend a session?
Anywhere from 5 to 100. Sessions can be anything from small intimate groups of specialists to key notes for the whole camp.
I’m holding a session, how do I know what size room to book?
If you’re not sure how many people might attend your session please speak to the Director of your activity or to a member of the Stream team. They’ll be able to help you calculate the best space for you. If in the happy event your session is overwhelmingly popular there is the possibility of hosting it for a second time. Please speak to the Stream team to arrange.
Should I bring sports or swimming equipment with me?
Sure. There is a beautiful swimming pool on site, as well as tennis courts and various water sport facilities. Stream is an extraordinarily demanding event though. The Stream team would remind you to check your schedule before packing your surf board.
