How To Edit the Wiki - WPP Stream 2010

How To Edit the Wiki

Editing the wiki is simple. If you have edited content on the Stream 09, have basic wiki experience or used Word this will be a breeze. All you need to do is sign in, once you have registered, and start by creating your own personal page and adding content to other pages.

If you have trouble logging in or require any assistance, please contact BLUE.

If you are trying to upload and insert images, please refer to the "Inserting Images to a Page" section below.

Editing/Tagging Pages

  1. To edit any pages, you first need to sign in by clicking on the "Sign In" link located on the top right corner of every page.
  2. Enter your username and password that you have chosen when you first registered on the site.
  3. Navigate to the page that you need to edit and click on the "Edit Page" icon.
  4. To tag a page, click on the "More" link and a dropdown list will appear. Click on "Tag Page" and enter your tags accordingly.
  5. If the "Edit Page" icon is disabled, it could mean that you are not signed in properly or you do not have permission to edit that page.

Styling Your Contents

  1. While in edit mode, there will be a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor. Click on the dropdowns and icons to get the desired effects. It is very similar to using Word document.
  2. If you are comfortable with HTML codes, you can toggle between WYSIWYG mode and HTML mode.
  3. If you do not understand what function an icon performs, simply hover over it and it will show a discription of what it does.
  4. After you save your content and your fonts appear too small, please go into edit mode and change your font size to 9pt.

Inserting Links and Email Address

  1.  Highlight the text that needs to be linked and click on the link icon. If the page is an internal wiki page, you can just enter the exect page name and the lookup function will try to match the page you are looking for. If you are linking to an external page, simply enter the entire URL http://www.wpp.com into the textbox provided.
  2. If you want to input email addresses, you will need to do the same steps as above and enter in the URL mailto:email@address.com
  3. The editor will automatically style your links depending on internal links, external links or email links.

Inserting Images to a Page

  1. To insert images to a page, you first need to upload them to the wiki. Click on the "Upload File" tab located at the top of the page that you need the image or file to appear.
  2. Click on the "Attach file or image" link and a window will appear. There are two modes of uploading (i.e. use the Flash Uploader or Classic Uploader). Please do not use the Flash Uploader as it causes inserting the images to not work in certain browsers.  This is a known issue with the wiki.
  3. After your files are uploaded, click on the "content" tab to return to editing mode. Place the cursor on the location of the page where you need the image to appear.
  4. Click on the insert image icon and select the image you require and select it's display size. (if unsure, select small).
  5. The editor will automatically style your links depending on internal links, external links or email links.

Creating New Pages

  1. To create new pages, simply append the page name you want after stream08.com/page_name and go to the page.
  2. The wiki will automatically detect if the page name already exist. If the page name is not taken, you will be taken directly to the edit mode of the new page.
  3. If you want to keep the page name as is, you will need to save the page first without editing the page heading then return to edit the heading only after you have first saved the page.
  4. Subsequent changes to the header name will not affect the page URL.
