Stream is an annual digital unconference founded by WPP in 2007.
An open-source, super-democratic, total immersion, two-days-and-nights unconference: guaranteed to involve, inspire and empower all those who’ve been selected to attend.
The purpose: to learn from, and contribute to, the freshest, most liberated thinking about the future of technology and communications.
Stream 07, 08 and 09 have all been hosted by Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP and Yossi Vardi, internet investor and founder of Kinnernet.
Stream is a closed event. Attendance is free, but by invitation only.
2010 Dates:
Thursday, September 30th to midday Saturday, October 3rd 2010
The Venue:
Stream 09 will take place at Club Med Athenia near Athens, Greece.
What happens:
Everyone who attends Stream must participate in some way. Participants lead discussion sessions on a subject of their choosing, perform at the Friday evening Extravaganza, help run an art or gaming Workshop etc.
Big Boards in the bar area detail all the activities that are taking place on site. This is also where participants can write down any discussions or workshops they'd like to run so that other Stream participants know about it.
Several times a day everyone at Stream is invited to camp-wide activities like the Gadgethon (show us your favourite gadget), Extravaganza (watch or perform yourself), Midnight Cooking Madness (cook your favourite meals from around the world, and eat), as well as lunch, dinner, and drinks each day. During the entire event XStream our own gaming arcade will be open for everyone to use.
For more information on specific activities have a look around on the wiki. Or come up with your own project that you'd like to run, and get others involved.
