Gadgethon

Gadgethon is the Olympics of Gizmos, the playground for Gadgetphiles and Gizmoholics (active, recovering and debutantes). It is THE opportunity to show off your gadget to an audience which is actually interested on what you have to show – instead of you boring your spouse, friends or kids…

How does it work?
It's simple: Gadgethon will be on Friday evening. You will have two minutes, and the whole Stream audience at your feet.

This year we'll have two categories:
  • (Real) Gadgets – where you show off your real, existing gadget
  • Bullsh*t Gadgets – where you try to fool the audience with a gadget that doesn't really do what you say it does. If you get away with it, you might win a prize. If the audience catches your lie, however, they'll call bullsh*t on you.

What do I do next?
Just click on the "ADD" button to sign up (at the bottom, right side of this page), tell us what you have in mind and bring your gadget with you... nobody will believe you if you just talk about it!

PS: don't forget to tell us if you need anything specific to showcase your gadget properly; ie: electrical plug, etc.

One more thing... for the best gadget of this year, we'll have an exclusive gift from Microsoft.

Name Gadget What it does / What you need to show your gadget
Chris Barchak Ball-shaped motion controller for games Responds to movement, rotation, squeezing and even magnetic fields. Ideally, need a bluetooth enabled PC to install some software on and projector.
Maarten Lens-Fitzgerald A world you cannot see and what you need to defend... Protect our world from these alien invaders. Use the phone to shoot them down. A camera showing the phone screen on the big screen would be a great help #layar
Miles Ward Funk Engine it is not a little tiny thing :) It creates cyclical deformities in air pressure, remotely exciting cilia hairs (spooky action at-a-distance) to fire intra-cranial synaptic events; driving the "brown note" physiological reaction. Fun for the whole family!
Chris DiBona Android Tabley It's a tablet! Probably the samsung galaxy tab.
Uri Kareev Permanently clean toilet bowl Projector screen (can't bring it with me...)
Dan Dubno Some cool things (why spoil the surprise? Basically, whatever I can get in my carry on bag...
Hugo Barra Android speech A totally new way of interacting with a mobile device... with your voice.
Esther Dyson Fitbit activity monitor it monitors my (physical) activity and helps me stay active and improve my health. It uploads data that I can share with friends or competitors.
Gustavo Burnier A nano-robot, with medical (and other potentially much more interesting) applications A tiny little thing, which gets inserted into our bodies (by doctors, apparently) and carry mundane tasks such as opening veins clogged by fat... argh!
